This single handed Viking Broad Bearded Axe is hand forged from a solid billet of EN9 using the punch and drift method. I form the ears around a mandrel and then forge the rest of the blade to shape.
The axe is differentially hardened and double tempered.
The whole axe weighs 2lbs
The edge is 7.5 inches and the head is 6.5 inches front to back.
The handle is 23.5 inches long.
I am proud of this axe. Is is a wonderful piece of sculpted metal (if I do say so myself). It would make a fine wood working axe or perfect for Vikings & Saxons the world over…
